ECOMMERCE SOLUTIONS OFFERINGS
SATS eCommerce Airhub, situated at Core B of SATS Airfreight Terminal, was set up in 2017 for the purpose of handling specialized air shipments relating to E-Commerce postal products. These postal products are shipped via CN 38 or Airway Bill. SATS e-Commerce Solutions offer a wide range of Value-Added Services (VAS) which help to improve the efficiency and reduce end-to-end transit timings for shipments arriving at and departing Singapore. These VAS offered by SATS eCommerce Solutions are designed to enable efficient handling of cargo to meet the increasingly demanding needs of eCommerce logistics, with the aim to improve customer satisfaction levels. They are listed below, though non-exhaustive:
Priority Collection
Inbound eCommerce cargo is broken down and segregated into respective distribution centres (DCs) for collection at SATS Airfreight Terminal’s dedicated truck docks. SATS will breakbulk, sort, scan and palletize the cargo arriving from different flights and consolidate them based on DCs. This removes the need for any consolidation to be done at Forwarder’s warehouses, maximizes efficiency of trucking services and enables same or next day delivery – resulting in cost and time savings for Forwarders.
OneConnect Solution
SATS offers OneConnect service whereby transshipment parcels are received from inbound flights, sorted and relabeled at SATS Airfreight Terminal for outbound flights without the need for freight forwarders to clear cargo from SATS Import Terminal and relodge for export. This simplifies the transshipment handling process, reduces air-to-air transit time by up to 50% and cargo is able to be connected on same day outbound flights.
Quick Delivery Service
Quick Delivery Service provides an expedited extraction of inbound general cargo which will be staged at SATS Airfreight terminal truck dock within 2.5 hours from a passenger flight’s Actual Time of Arrival (ATA) for agent’s collection. This facilitates shorter processing time for consignees and enables same day or next day delivery services.
Sea-Air Multimodal Handling
Sea-Air multimodal service enables freight forwarders to arrange for the transport of sea containers from PSA port directly to SATS Airfreight Terminal without the need to route the cargo to their warehouses. SATS will perform un-stuffing of sea containers, sort and label according to destinations, and build up the outbound cargo for the acceptance onto SATS-handled flights. This reduces the sea-to-air transit time spent in Singapore, hence reducing end-to-end delivery timings.
In addition, transshipment between two Free Trade Zones reduces the need to prepare additional documents for importing and re-exporting cargo.
Cargo-to-Mail Solution
SATS performs the conversion of Cargo-to-Mail for outbound flights at SATS e-Commerce Air Hub using Postal Agencies’ International Postal System (IPS). This simplifies the transshipment handling process and reduces air-to-air transit time by up to 50% by connecting parcels with same day outbound flights. With this service, postal agents no longer need to clear cargo from Import Terminal, transport cargo back to their warehouse for conversion of Cargo-to-Mail and lodge in for re-export.
Tail-to-Tail Aircraft transfer
SATS offers Tail-to-Tail Aircraft transfers by transferring shipments directly from inbound flight to 2nd league (outbound) flight at the respective aircraft bay via airside transport. Our eCommerce team here will prepare the necessary documentation and monitor the shipment to ensure loading is done to the correct 2nd league flight. Customers will also receive a notification that the shipment has been successfully connected.
Upcoming Developments
SATS is currently working with our anchor customer, SingPost on a strategic partnership towards developing a world class eCommerce Transshipment Hub to support the growing demand of eCommerce in the region. The eCommerce Transshipment Hub will integrate both SingPost and SATS’s expertise to make transformational changes to the current processes for transshipment parcels. This hub will introduce a new process flow and sorting system, which will significantly reduce handling time and allow faster delivery of products for end consumers around the world through Changi’s well-connected air-routes. As one of the first eCommerce Transshipment Hubs in Asia, this new development further strengthens Singapore’s position as an aviation hub.

Vaccine Handling
As the main ground handler at Changi Airport, SATS works with the majority of airlines that fly through Singapore. SATS Coolport is dedicated to the cold chain handling of perishable and pharmaceutical airfreight for import, export, and transshipment.
Once vaccine shipments arrive at the airport, SATS’ apron services team will unload temperature-controlled air cargo containers (also known as Unit Load Devices), where temperature loggers are attached for 24/7 temperature monitoring and location tracking is activated. The SATS Integrated Operations Command (SIOC) team simultaneously oversees ground operations to coordinate aircraft bays for inbound shipments, while the Coolport team transports the ULDs to SATS Coolport in an unbroken cold chain.
Thereafter, each temperature-controlled ULD is transferred to SATS Coolport’s temperature-controlled multi-level materials handling system (MHS), where individual checks are conducted before storing them in cold rooms with the required temperature range (SATS has four main temperature zones from -28oC to 25oC). SATS then continues to monitor temperature logs for temperature excursions and notifies the agent/freight forwarder regarding delivery. Once the respective agents/freight forwarders have completed the necessary checks, the vaccines will be transferred via dedicated temperature-controlled truck docks for onward delivery by the agent/freight forwarders.
